The Mystic Scottish Country Dancers hosted its 28th annual Robert Burns Supper on Saturday, the 11th of February 2012. The event was hosted in at the Groton Inn and Suites. The ballroom was resplendent with All Things Scottish, including Bob Byrnie's beautiful painting of the Eilean Donan Castle, against a background of the St Andrew's Cross that reaches through storm clouds into the night sky. On this Burns Night, it provided an elegant backdrop for the talented musicians, Susie Petrov and The Parce of Rogues. Entertainment included a presentation by the Mystic Highland Pipeband followed up by the introduction of a Speciality Group of dancers who performed the Argyle Broadsword Dance with Bob Scent playing the pipes.
Our Burns Night was truly a Birthday Celebration - not only of Robbie Burns, but alos of Andrew Frasier (our gifted presenter of the Ode To The Haggis who was celebrating a 'significant birth date' - a wee laddie who was celebrating her first birthday. Linda Scent, our social dance instructor and second teacher has a birthday as well.

Andrew Fraser gave Robbie Burn's address Ode To A Hattis, with the help of Piper Bob Scent, Haggis Bearer Mark Davis, Dirk Bearer Bill Cournoyer and Minna DeGaetano as Posie Nancy. Andrew performs a superb 'interactive' rendition of the Ode, asking the audience to provide the rousing sound effects, particularly when the Chieftain 'cut you up wi' ready slight' and again when 'The trembling earth resounds his treat!' All joined in with a vigorous, 'Gie here a haggis!!'. The address to the Immortal Memory was delivered by Dave Lees. The text of that address is avaliable for download: Immortal Memory 2012
